Hi, I'm Tonja Wright. I'm an environmental scientist turned interior designer, and I started Design to Transform because I have a true passion for evidence-based, green, inclusive and cruelty-free design.
My enthusiasm for green design stems from my previous career as an environmental soil scientist. I worked in this area for a decade, including teaching at the University of Melbourne, and working in the lab and field for preeminent scientific organisations, including CSIRO.
Craving a more tangible impact in the world I left academia and entered the charity and non-profit sector, moving to the UK and working for the Centre For Effective Altruism in Oxford (an organisation that promotes effective charitable giving practices). It was here that I discovered my love for interior design, when I was asked to redesign our office. I found I could combine my scientific knowledge with my creativity to improve productivity and quality of life in the office environment.
So I returned to Australia to retrain as an interior designer so I could start creating thoughtful designs that have the power to improve people’s lives.
